We got back this afternoon from the Wisconsin Dells. The kids are so exhausted, they were all in bed before 6 pm! Here are some action shots from the trip:
Our room had a gorgeous view of the snow-covered woods (from the storm we drove through on the way up-- eek!)
Our first waterpark stop was a huge success! We weren't sure Marion would like swimming. We were wrong.
We all went down this green slide about a million times. It was hilarious.
Anytime our family sees a turtle, we must take a picture with it.
The kids thought it was so cool to all share a room. They had far too many pillows and cable TV. What more could one want?
After the little kids went to bed, these two sneaked off with Daddy to the arcade. In their pajamas.
Another extremely cool waterpark. This one had at least 15 lifeguards, so the 3 "big" kids got more freedom than I thought they would. Marion had to be kept at arm's length because she runs and doesn't have a reasonable fear of drowning. Or of being yelled at by a lifeguard.
There were loads of water toys and structures for toddlers/preschoolers:
This very fast slide had its own lifeguard who scooped kids out when they reached the bottom because the splashing at the end was so intense:
Here's everyone in the wave pool at a 3rd waterpark:
What's better than drying off 6 people so they can go into a restaurant to eat lunch? Pizza delivered poolside. Here are the kids waiting for the delivery :)
Charlotte and Leonard went on the lazy river by themselves many, many times:
3-D mini golf,
where we found a drunken pirate
and a sea turtle!
There was a 4-story playground (with another turtle):
and we went out to dinner Wednesday night:
Here's Marion on that giant playground:
We brought groceries and had most of our meals in the room. Sooooo much cheaper and easier to do with kids!
On Thursday the three oldest kids and I took a shuttle bus to a paint-your-own-pottery studio. They were pretty impressed by the little bus.
They painted a skidsteer, a turtle (surprised?) and a train.
Then we played board games in the room so everyone could rest up before swimming again before dinner!
Easiest way to bathe 4 chlorine-marinated kids? A whirlpool, jets ON, lots of baby wash. Very efficient ;)
We were going to go out to eat again Thursday night, but the kids were so tired they were completely uninterested. So we ordered Jimmy John's,
and they ate it in bed while watching a movie. Their first vacation set the bar quite high!
On Friday, dry activities. We went to another arcade the kids really wanted to check out,
took turns riding the 2-story go kart trail,
and got gigantic, delicious ice cream cones before heading home.
Everyone had a marvelous time and we've already decided to go back next year :)
